What ages do you work with?

Participants' ages range from 7  to 17 years old. 

Who can join?

Brown Girl Rise is intended for youth who are part of the global majority (commonly referred to https://omsk.abari.ru/.) Many of our youth members are of mixed heritage.

What does “global majority” mean?

This term is rooted in the knowledge that most of the world’s population is made up of various ethnicities and therefore, we cannot be othered. The term people of color perpetuates the idea that whiteness is the standard, by which every person is categorized (i.e., either you’re white or you’re something other than white). By using the term “global majority”, we acknowledge what we are rather than what we are not.

What sort of activities does BGR do?

We host a variety of events - workshops, camp-outs, meet-ups - that focus on a range of topics including self-care, wellness, mental health awareness, radical history and social justice movements.

Our curriculum is always evolving to meet the needs of youth today.

We aim to make every event a place where youth can experience joy and create deeper connections with one another.
